As of 5:00 yesterday afternoon, my two-month sabbatical is officially over. I head back to work on Monday morning, poised to dive back into the fray and discover whether either of my two projects have survived my absence. Of the two extreme possibilities, I’m not sure which is worse: 1) they withered and died while I was away (I was essential, and shouldn’t have left) or 2) they trundled along just fine without me (I was irrelevant).
Of course, the pessimist is one who’s never unpleasantly surprised (maybe it’s option 3: “Who are you? And how did you get in the building!?”)
