New Story: Poison

“Its founders had intended to honor Henry Polson. But the courthouse clerk had quarreled with his wife that morning, and his foul mood conspired with the document’s uncertain orthography to induct the town of Poison into the Nevada registry on October 15th, 1905. It was telling that, in the spirit of resignation that pervaded Lander County, none of its residents ever sought to correct the error….”   –Poison

It’s August, which means it’s time for a new story-of-the-month!

I do like this one very much, and hope you do, too. Just what the doctor ordered for these long, dry dog days of summer. It’s very loosely inspired by true events, the details of which are sketched in the postscript to the story for details.

BTW: I’ll be sending out details soon for next month’s (Sept 14th) reading at Cafe Zoë in Menlo Park, and will be trying to set up a reading in Port Townsend, too, where you’ll be able to pick up a signed copy of Eight in Three Weeks.

I also think we’ve finally gotten the distribution bugs out the system, so it ought to be showing up in bookstores soon, but don’t hesitate to give them a prod by swinging by your local bookseller and ask if they have it in stock.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy Poison.

  1. Hi David,

What a great road trip. Thanks for sharing with us. Would love to see you in Port Townsend but if it is in September I won’t be able to make it as I will be in Paris most of September.
